The third round of negotiations on the EU-Myanmar/Burma investment protection agreement took place between 21 and 23 September in Yangon and allowed both parties to build on the progress made during the first two rounds of negotiations held in February and May of this year.
In parallel to these negotiations, the Commission has launched a Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA), in the framework of which external consultants will assess the possible economic, social, environmental and human rights impacts of the future agreement. The procedure for stakeholders to contribute to the study will be advertised on the Commission website soon.
